ESTEVAN - Several people were held in custody this past week following their appearances in Provincial Court in the southeast.

Jyron Englot, who is facing charges for drugs and firearms offences after his arrest in Stoughton in late August, was in Weyburn court on Sept. 12. He was remanded into custody and his case will be heard again Oct. 15 in Weyburn.

Bradley Williams, arrested in a drug bust that occurred in Estevan in late August, was held in custody after his appearance on Sept. 11 in Carlyle. He will have a bail hearing on Sept. 23 in Estevan.

Dusty Bonnor, who is facing numerous charges after being arrested multiple times during the summer, has a bail hearing set for Sept. 24 in Weyburn. He also remains in custody.

Also still in custody is William Joshua Curtis. He is facing 10 charges, including one for attempted murder, in connection with an incident that took place in Estevan in April.

During his latest court appearance by video on Sept. 9, it was noted a mental health report had been completed on Curtis. The Crown asked for a couple of weeks to go through it.

Curtis noted he wanted to discharge the services of his current attorney and thought he could represent himself. Judge Mitch Miller told Curtis this is a fairly complicated matter and Curtis might want a lawyer's assistance.

His defence attorney said she is willing to remain as a liaison between Curtis and the courts.

Also in Estevan Provincial Court on Sept. 9, three of the people charged in connection with thefts in the Alida area earlier this year had their cases heard. Jody and Sherry Bonnor had their matters adjourned to Oct. 7 in Estevan, while Ashley Faye Myers will have her matter back in court Oct.10; a trial date for Myers is expected to be set at that time.
