ESTEVAN - A couple of Estevan youth hockey teams were in action on the weekend in Game 1s of their respective provincial finals.
The Estevan U13 Bearcats provincial female team dropped a 3-2 decision on the road against Martensville on March 22. Brynley Rosengren and Avi Macki had the goals for Estevan, while Everleigh Blanchette was in goal.
Game 2 will be played on March 29 at Affinity Place, starting at 7:45 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Estevan male U13 Bruins provincial team had a 4-4 tie against Swift Current. Caelem Desautels, Jax Trombley, Kolby Fichter and Kane Massier scored for Estevan. Jack Holden was in goal.
Game 2 is March 30 at Affinity Place at 3:30 p.m.
The two provincial finals are best-of-two contests. If each team wins once, or if both games end in ties, then a mini-game will be used to determine the provincial champion.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Apex U18 AA Goldwings forced a Game 3 in their best-of-three Saskatchewan Female Hockey League/provincial final with the Warman Wildcats.
The Goldwings defeated Warman 4-2 on March 23 in Warman, two days after they dropped Game 1 3-1 in Midale.
Warman scored twice in the opening period, including a goal with 46 seconds remaining, to take a 2-0 advantage in Game 2. Kaylin Wilhelm had the lone goal in the second period for the Goldwings.
It remained a 2-1 game until Wilhelm tied the game with 5:10 to play in the third period. Ella Schenher's goal 23 seconds later put the Wings up by one, and Hadley Gerle finished the scoring with seven seconds to play.
Myra Field made 29 saves to get the victory.
The Wings will face Warman in Game 3 on March 30, starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale.

The Estevan Steel Reef U13 A Bearcats won 5-2 over Swift Current in Game 1 of their best-of-three Saskatchewan Female Hockey League consolation final.
Aspen Snider, Brynley Rosengren and Isla Roberts scored for Estevan in the first period, and Mya Mack tallied in the second. After Swift Current notched two goals in the third, Mack added her second of the game in the final seconds.
Tayja Pehl was the Bearcats' goalie.
Game 2 is set for March 30 at 2:30 p.m. at the Power Dodge Arena. Game 3, if necessary, would start two hours later in the same rink.

The Redvers Rockets defeated Edam 5-3 on March 23 in Game 1 of the best-of-three senior D provincial final.
Redvers led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Kenton Miller, and 2-1 after two when Josh Martin scored. Naton Miller's goal in the third gave the Rockets some breathing room, and the two teams traded goals in the final three minutes of the game, with Martin and Brady Gaudet scoring for Redvers.
Thomas Bauche was in goal for the Rockets.
Edam is the designated home team for the final two contests. Game 2 is slated for March 29 and Game 3 would be the following day. Both games are to be in Turtleford.
The Moosomin Rangers' quest for a provincial title came to an end March 21 in a 6-4 loss to Davidson in Game 2 of the senior B provincial final. Davidson won the best-of-three series in two straight games.
