The Redvers Rockets have won the Big Six Hockey League's title.

REDVERS - For the second time in three seasons, the Redvers Rockets are the class of the Big Six Hockey League.

The Rockets defeated the Moosomin Rangers 6-2 on March 18 in Redvers to sweep the best-of-five Big Six final in three straight games. It's the Rockets' third title in franchise history; they also won the championship in 2018.

Redvers led 2-0 with eight minutes to play in the first period of Game 3, with Drew Hoff and Kenton Miller scoring for Redvers 80 seconds apart. Goals by the Rangers' Justin Lamontagne and Taylor Sanheim five minutes into the second tied the game.

It remained a 2-2 game until Naton Miller scored with 64 seconds to play in the second to give Redvers the lead, and Presten Kopeck added to the advantage with two seconds remaining in the frame.

Goals by Jordon Miller and Kenton Miller in the opening seven minutes of the third dashed any hopes of a Moosomin comeback.

Cody Matthewson picked up the win in goal for Redvers, while Levi Horn was in goal for Moosomin.

Redvers also won Game 1 7-4 on March 11 in Redvers and Game 2 1-0 on March 13 in Moosomin. Kopeck had the lone goal in Game 2, scoring with 4:18 to play in the second period.

Matthewson picked up the shutout for Redvers, while Kyler Beckett was the Moosomin goalie.

The win capped an incredible season for the Rockets in the Big Six. They didn't lose in regulation in league play, finishing first in the regular season with a 14-0-2 record, and then they went 9-0 in the playoffs, sweeping their series with the Wawota Flyers, Oxbow Huskies and Moosomin.

It's also the third straight year Redvers and Moosomin have met in the Big Six final. Redvers won the championship in 2023, while Moosomin took the crown in 2024.

While the Big Six season is over, both Moosomin and Redvers are still competing in provincials. Moosomin is facing Davidson in the best-of-three senior B provincial final; Davidson has a 1-0 series lead after winning Game 1 4-2 on March 16. Game 2 is set for March 21 in Moosomin at 8 p.m., and Game 3, if necessary, would be March 23 in Davidson.

Redvers is facing Edam in the best-of-three senior D provincial final. Redvers will host Game 1 on March 23 at 5 p.m. Edam is the home team for Game 2 on March 29 and Game 3, if necessary, which would be the following day. Edam's home games will be played in Turtleford.
