ESTEVAN - The Estevan Fire Rescue Service handled a few calls in the past week.

On March 10, the fire department was notified of a commercial fire alarm in central Estevan. Upon arrival of the duty officer, it was determined to be a cooking-related incident. The fire department's assistance was not required.

The following day, fire crews were called to a residential carbon monoxide alarm north of the city in the RM of Estevan. Deputy Fire Chief Kyle Luc said that once on scene, the cause of the alarm was found to be system maintenance and there wasn't an emergency occurring.

Then on March 13, the EFRS duty officer was notified of a carbon monoxide alarm in the northwest area of Estevan. No emergency existed and it was determined to be a faulty detector.

Firefighters also had a couple of calls regarding elevators during the power outage that occurred March 14. They did not require the fire department's attention.
