EPS makes arrest after truck chases person

ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service dealt with 69 occurrences over the weekend of Aug. 23-25. Calls for service included reports of suspicious persons/vehicles, thefts, traffic complaints, assaults, impaired drivers and bylaw complaints.

Police arrested a 46-year-old Estevan man for assault after a complaint of a man being chased by a truck on Fourth Street. The man was released for court at a later date with conditions of no contact with the victim.

Members responded to a report of a dog loose in the southwest part of the city on Aug. 24. The owner was located, and the dog was returned.

The same day, the EPS received a report of a woman causing a disturbance at a residence. Members attended and mediated a resolution.

A traffic stop resulted in a male driver being issued a 72-hour driver's licence suspension and a three-day vehicle impound after a warn result was recorded on a roadside screening device.

The EPS is also looking into the report of a stolen iPhone and other belongings from the change rooms at the Estevan Leisure Centre on Aug. 25.  The matter remains under investigation.

A large brown and white St. Bernard-type dog was located running at large in the Cundall Drive area the same day. The dog was transported to the Estevan Humane Society. Please contact the humane society if this is your dog.

EPS received a report of a male youth walking alone in the north part of the city. Members located the youth and assisted him with getting to where he was going.

A report was received of a hit-and-run collision in the parking lot of a local business. The matter is still under investigation.

A woman was observed panhandling in front of a local business. Members spoke with her, advised her that it was unlawful to do so and sent her on her way.
