Assiniboia will be holding its annual Terry Fox Community Run on Sunday, September 17 starting at the Â鶹´«Ã½AVland Co-op parking lot. Registration starts at 1:30 p.m. and the run takes place from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Strong winds helped to fuel a monster prairie fire near Glentworth on September 4. But thanks to an immense community volunteer effort, the fierce fire was contained. At least three ranches were affected.

Producers are hard at work bringing in the 2017 harvest. The crop yields this year are extremely variable depending on the field and location.

Last year in late September news rocked the beef industry that a cow from a herd in Alberta tested positive for Bovine Tuberculosis.

The Rural Municipality of Old Post No. 43 celebrated Canada 150 along with its 50th anniversary on July 29. The event was held at the Outpost in Wood Mountain Regional Park where a large-sized crowd was in attendance for the steak fondue.

The Red Coat Ag Society held its biggest community market yet at the Assiniboia Civic Centre on August 27. This was the sixth year for the market which ran from noon to 3 p.m.

Tickets are now available for the Communithon Concert Jam, which will be hosted by the Weyburn and District United Way at the Cugnet Centre on Saturday, October 21, starting at 1 p.m.

A unique exhibit of sculpture and paintings opened at the Shurniak Art Gallery in Assiniboia on August 29 as part of an evening dedicated to gallery volunteers.

The late ceramic artist Linda Olafson of Mossbank was a dedicated supporter of the Mossbank and District Museum. Today, the museum is still benefitting from her support through a donation of her ceramic works.
