ARCOLA - Matthew Hodgson and Blake Brownridge are farmers and avid collectors of toy tractors.
Because of COVID-19, there has not been an annual show anywhere in Saskatchewan since February 2020. After gentle persuasion from many other friends and collectors, they took it upon themselves to organize an event which was held at Prairie Place in Arcola.
There was between 350 and 400 people who attended the two-day event. Vendors and collectors from all over Manitoba and Saskatchewan took part in the sale, with some travelling as far away as Humboldt, Assiniboia and even Winnipeg.
The net profit from this sale, which was derived from admissions, raffle tickets and a donation from E. Bourassa and Sons, amounted to $1,900. All of this surplus was donated to the Carlyle FoodBank.
Both Hodgson and Brownridge were very pleased with the success and attendance at this event. Added Blake, “The event went over so well we have already agreed to hold our second annual in November of 2022, also at Prairie Place.”
The organizers also wish to thank all of the volunteers who helped out during the weekend.
