The birds are back at the Legislature

The Canada Geese are slowly but surely returning home to their familiar gathering place at the Legislature grounds in Regina.

REGINA - It's a sure sign of spring: the Canada Geese are coming back to the Legislature grounds.

Day after day, more and more of the big birds can be seen in front of the legislature building, as they slowly but surely return to Regina from their winter getaway vacations south of the border. The numbers have grown from the occasional one or two in the past number of days up to several more, but far more are expected to arrive as conditions warm up.

Canada Geese are a familiar sight to visitors at the Legislature and even more can be found throughout Wascana Centre in Regina during the spring and summer months. According to the Wascana.ca website, the birds usually make their way down to Â鶹´«Ã½AV Dakota and Nebraska for the winter and then start returning in March -- although these birds roaming the grounds look like they may have wished they had stayed south just a little longer, as they arrived back home to cold weather and to grounds still covered in snow.

As for the Legislature itself, it is now off for a one-week Easter break before they resume the spring sitting on April 17.
