You’ll be seeing plenty of Sunwing planes at Regina and Saskatoon airports throughout this winter.

SASKATOON, REGINA - Sunwing has confirmed it is returning to Saskatchewan this winter season with weekly direct flights to popular Sun destinations.

According to the news release issued by the airline on Wednesday, the flights from Saskatoon and Regina airports will begin this November and run until April. The tour operator is saying it will provide more options for local residents to travel this winter at affordable prices to Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

Both Saskatoon and Regina will see twice weekly flights to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, and once a week flights to Mazatlan, Los Cabos, Varadero and Punta Cana.

From Saskatoon and Regina, the flights to Cancun run from Nov. 12 to April 10 and to Puerto Vallarta from Nov. 13 to April 9. The other flights will begin from December, with flights to Los Cabos from Dec. 8 to April 6, Mazatlan from Dec. 9 to April 7, Varadero from Dec. 13 to April 4 and Punta Cana from Dec. 14 to April 5.

Sunwing is also offering a Save More Event promotion where those who book their winter escapes by Nov. 6, 2022 will save up to 40 per cent on vacation packages.

“We are pleased to announce our winter flight schedule for Saskatoon and Regina, offering residents accessibly priced vacation packages with the convenience of travelling from their local airports,” said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing, in a news release.

“With demand for all inclusive travel continuing to rise, we encourage our customers in Saskatchewan to book their winter getaways early to lock in their preferred resort in their destination of choice, while enjoying incredible savings during our Save More Event.”

The news from Sunwing follows the announcement from WestJet that they are also resuming their direct flights from Saskatoon and Regina to Sun destinations, including American locations Phoenix, Orlando and Las Vegas. This latest announcement from Sunwing is more good news for two airports that had been hit hard by the decline in travel during the era of COVID-19 restrictions.

“Saskatoon Airport is thrilled to welcome Sunwing back with a robust winter program. After several tough years, we know Saskatoonians, and residents from the surrounding communities we serve, are eager to escape the cold winter months and recharge with some much-missed sun and sand,” said C.J. Dushinski, Vice President, Business Development and Service Quality at Saskatoon Airport, in a news release.

“Sunwing plays a big role in escaping the winter climate in Saskatchewan, and we eagerly await the first flight of the season!”

“We know that residents in southern Saskatchewan love to travel to sun destinations and there is a lot of pent-up demand from the last few years,” said Justin Reves, Manager of Customer Experience and Marketing at Regina Airport Authority, in a statement. “That’s why we’re so thrilled to see this fantastic lineup of direct flights to a variety of incredible destinations with Sunwing.”
