Premier Scott Moe offered a brief statement on Twitter in which he marked the anniversary and expressed continued support for Ukraine.

“One year ago today, Russia began its unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.

“Saskatchewan will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine.

“Russia must withdraw from all Ukrainian territory.

“Slava Ukraini!”

Opposition Leader Carla Beck has issued this statement:

“On this one-year anniversary of Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Official Opposition reaffirms its commitment to the people of Ukraine. We will continue to stand with you in your fight for freedom in the face of Russia’s aggression.

“We commend the selfless actions of Saskatchewan people and welcome those displaced who now call our province home. Countless families and local businesses have devoted their time, money and expertise to helping Ukrainian refugees in any way they can.

“Saskatchewan has always enjoyed a deep and close relationship with Ukraine, and we will continue to be there for our Ukrainian brothers and sisters for as long as it takes.

“Slava Ukraini!”
