Wilkie welcomes two Filipina nurses

Fundraising on the horizon for the swimming pool and daycare centre.
Wilkie Health Centre Heart -
Wilkie will be welcoming two nurses from the Philippines.

WILKIE — Come one, come all for it is no longer fall in the town of Wilkie. While the bitter winter weeks kept most of us indoors, it was the wind who was guilty. Those few weeks in January were a reminder of what this time of year is capable of. I hope everyone reading this enjoys their share of the warm weather while it lasts. Spring is just around the corner and I am sure many of us are looking forward to it.

As several of you may have heard, country singer Gord Bamford, with special guest Dallas Alexander, will be making their way to our community. I am excited to see everyone from here, there, and everywhere around make our guests feel welcome and enjoy what I am sure will be a spectacular show.

These two won’t be the only new faces that are seen around town. With the help of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, as well as local health committee members, Wilkie is happy to announce the upcoming arrival of two Filipina nurses. Having recently completed their training program, the two new nurses will join our community later this month.

The arena is still a busy place to be. Be sure to take in some amazing hockey right from our littlest of hockey players up to the senior Outlaws. Provincial playoffs are just beginning and will be a great display of the amazing hockey talent in our great community. Come out and cheer on our Outlaws big and small.

This is all good news but there is still work to be done to keep our home moving forward. The two major projects that I would like to highlight are the fundraising committee for our new pool and the Little Seedlings Daycare Centre. We are asking for volunteers to join the fundraising committee to facilitate donations to make our dream of a new pool come true. While the daycare may still be in its infancy, it takes a community to build towards the future. I ask that everyone keep an eye out for opportunities to invest and donate to these efforts so all will bloom.
