The Unity Merchants continued in the 1972 West Central Hockey League with five wins in a row including victories over Provost and Denzil.

The Unity Miners were prepared for the playoffs, getting ready to play Rosetown in provincials. The Miners sat in second place in the Sask. West Hockey League standings, only one point behind Biggar.
The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, P. Myron Kowalsky, visited McLurg High School in Wilkie and Macklin School.
Brad Schell, son of Herb and Marion Schell of Scott, was picked to play in the CHL Top Prospects game in Saskatoon. Schell was selected by the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL.
