Provincial organization recognizes Cut Knife Wildlife Federation

Donations made to the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation's Habitat Trust Fund have put Cut Knife's chapter over $50,000.

CUT KNIFE – The annual awards and wildlife supper in Cut Knife was held March 1.

The hall was packed with sportsmen and women alike.

With a variety of wild meats and fish, diners were treated to a spread unlike any other. On top of the delicious meal, the younger generation was treated with creations of the balloon variety courtesy of Larry Goodall.

The local federation was recognized by the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation for their contributions over the years, totaling more than $50,000 being donated to the Habitat Trust Fund.

This year's award winners were: Antelop e- Keith Hoffman, Elk - Stephen Dupuis, Moose - Kurtis Dupuis, Mule Deer -  Gordon Brown, Ladies' Mule Deer - Maycee Weikle,  White-tailed Deer - Brodie Loranger,  Non-Typical White-tailed Deer - Dalton Loranger, Ladies' White-tailed Deer - Maxine Hoffman, Junior White-tailed Deer - Logan Weikle, Best Overall (Men’s Bear) - Kyle Stonehouse, Duck - Brodie Loranger, Goose - Brodie Loranger, Northern Pike - Sherri Gibson, Walleye - Doug Gibson, Perch - Nash Rewerts, Junior Fishing (Walleye )- Grady Stewart, Wildlife Photo - Brodie Loranger

This year had three memorial awards presented. Two new memorial awards were named after the late Aiden Rewerts for the Men’s Bear - Kyle Stonehouse and Ladies' / Youth Bear - Brookelyne Rogerson. The Keith Loranger Memorial Award recognizing the Youth Sportsman was won by Hunter Drake.

Many prizes were raffled and auctioned off after the awards were presented. All children under the age of 12 got to choose from a mountain of treasures, with a mix of toys and hunting and fishing gear.

The Cut Knife Wildlife Federation is now looking forward to the warmer weather, when they organize the golf tournament held at Atton’s Lake as the main fundraiser for the year.
