MLA meets constituents in mobile office tour

Health care, mental health and agriculture were some of the concerns brought to MLA Ryan Domotor during his mobile office tour.

UNITY, WILKIE — MLA Ryan Domotor, hosted a mobile office in both Unity and Wilkie June 8.

Asked what he is hearing from constituents at this point in 2022, the response was, “Health care, long-term care availability for locals, concerns regarding ER re-opening in Wilkie and surgery wait list times.”

Constituents also brought up concerns with municipal tax changes which may limit a municipality’s ability to tax commercial properties as compared to agriculture and residential.

Taxpayers also voiced their concerns on highway upgrades and in terms of repairs, saying they are not taking place fast enough.

Domotor’s office said the burning issues from those people who booked appointments to meet with their MLA were undoubtedly health care, mental health concerns and agriculture.

“Both the communities of Unity and Wilkie are very community-minded. Volunteer organizations and groups work very hard to contribute to their community and help however they can. This includes fundraising efforts with the Unity Community Centre, ongoing fundraising for the Wilkie swimming pool replacement, etc. Without the wonderful support of the community, none of these projects would be possible.”

While in Unity, Domotor was invited to take part in the Access Communications barbecue that was being hosted at the local co-op grocery store parking area.

Previous to this June 8 mobile office stop, Domotor had toured both Unity and Wilkie’s recreational facilities. As well, Dec. 3, 2021, Domotor attended the SaskCan Community Centre, following their recent ice plant and solar power upgrade. Feb. 2, Domotor met with Mayor Sharon Del Frari to tour the recently renovated Unity Community Centre.

Constituents can reach Domotor, by phoning the office at 306-893-2619, email him at [email protected] or stop in person at the office, No. 6 116 - 1st Ave. W.in Maidstone.
