UNITY — Gerald Beres, board member representing St. Peter’s Catholic School in Unity on the Light of Christ Catholic School Division board of directors, was presented the Paslawski Meritorious Award.
Catholic education has always been especially important to Beres. His children attended St. Peter’s school and three of his grandchildren now attend.
Beres says he believes Catholic values instill positive influences into the lives of all children. He says the relationship between the parish and school is particularly important and, as a board trustee, he has always helped to foster that close relationship.
A spokesperson from St. Peter’s School adds, “In addition to his many years of serving our school community, he has spent multiple years serving his parish and community through various volunteering opportunities.”
Beres also contributes to other community ventures including serving years coaching or managing hockey and baseball teams in Unity. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 28 years, holding positions as grand knight, recorder, trustee and currently treasurer.
“Mr. Beres’ level of dedication and commitment to St. Peter’s School, the Light of Christ Catholic School Division and to Catholic education is evident through his many years of service.”
