UNITY – The new year will see the cost of the local newspaper going up a bit.
As of Jan. 1, 2024, single copies and yearly subscriptions will jump with a 10 per cent increase. This increase has been the first since the pandemic.
“We were set to increase the price around the time COVID hit. We wanted to make sure our subscribers were able to afford the local news with not only the social restrictions, but with the tightening of budgets with those who were unable to work,” said manager Jackie Boser.
Although the increase will be a shock, it is mainly due to the cost of the paper products and ink that is used to build the weekly paper, while still maintaining an income.
