Lake Lenore School teams dominate soccer field

It was a victory for both the Lake Lenore boys and girls' soccer teams last weekend. Two provincial championships were held October 28-29 and both Lake Lenore senior teams brought home the gold.

The Lake Lenore Senior Boys' 1A team won the gold medal at the Senior Boys' Provincial tournament in North Battleford on October 28-29. Pictured, the winning team. It was a victory for both the Lake Lenore boys and girls' soccer teams last weekend.
Two provincial championships were held October 28-29 and both Lake Lenore senior teams brought home the gold.
Lake Lenore school hosted the Senior Girls' 1A Soccer Provincials over the weekend and the girls played extremely well.
They played their first game against Osler, where they dominated the game 8-0, said coach Andre Kruger.
In their second and final game of the tournament, the girls faced more of a challenge against Muenster.
They started off strong in the first half, scoring early on and keeping the lead.
In the second half of the game, Muenster cam back, said Kruger.
"We had our work cut out for us in the last 10 to 15 minutes of the game," said Kruger.
The girls showed great defense and ended up winning the game 2-1.
Kruger was impressed by all the work the girls put into the final.
"It was a very close game," said Kruger.
The boys' team also won gold in their championship, hosted by North Battleford.
Their first game was also against Osler, said coach Curtis Strueby. They which they won 2-1.
"Micheal Foy and Tyler Davis scored the two goals in the first game," said Strueby.
Their second and final gam was against Regina Christian Academy. TheLake Lenore boys won 1-0.
"The winning goal was scored by Micheal Foy," said Strueby.
Both games were really well played and Strueby was proud of the work by his team.
"We had a really good run here," said Strueby. "It was their best two games of the year."
Strueby thanked his Grade 12 members of the team.
"Together we won a couple gold, silver and bronze," said Strueby. "It has been pretty special."
