Kindersley claims NSRBL title for 2021

Come-from-behind effort in series against Standard Hill
Kindersley Stallions win
Kindersley Stallions celebrate their NSRBL title.

KINDERSLEY - The Kindersley Stallions have claimed the 2021 North Saskatchewan River Baseball League title.

They did it by coming from behind in their final series with the Standard Hill Lakers. After losing game one on Aug. 11 by a humiliating score of 11-0, the Stallions regrouped with a 7-5 win in game two Aug. 12, with Kyle Donaldson going the entire way for the Stallions.

The Stallions clinched the series Monday in Silver Lake with a 10-9 win. The Stallions took the early 6-0 lead, helped in large measure by a Dylan Flasch grand slam home run during what turned out to be a five-run second inning.

The Lakers answered back with four in the bottom of the second inning, and eventually tied the game at 6-6 before Flasch hit another home run to put the Stallions ahead to stay.

The Stallions added three more runs for a 10-6 lead, but the Lakers rallied with three runs before the determined Stallions shut them down and won the game. The Stallions held on for a 10-9 win, which means Kindersley hoists the championship trophy this year.
