Setter Lindsey Larson has been signed to play with the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) women's volleyball team in the 2012 season.
UTEP volleyball head coach Ken Murphy announced the signing of Larson November 14, along with the signing of Amber Massey, a defensive specialist from Montwood High School in El Paso.
"We are very excited for the addition of Lindsay and Amber to our program next year," said Murphy. "They are both hard working and dedicated players that fit perfectly into the ideals of our program."
Larson comes to UTEP from Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI), where she led the squad to the 2010 Provincial 4A Volleyball Championship title and a second-place finish in 2009.
Larson was named the 2011 Lumsden Tournament Most Valuable Player and was selected to the 2010 Lumsden Tournament all-star team.
She was a member of the 2011 Team Saskatchewan and participated in the 2011 Kamloops Western Canada Summer Games, where the team took bronze. The two-sport athlete led the Humboldt Collegiate Institute to its first Provincial High School 4A basketball title in 2011.
"Lindsey is an elite athlete with tremendous potential as a volleyball player," said Murphy. "She plays the game fast and high above the net and I think she has only scratched the surface on what she is capable of in our sport."
