Two Mosquito First Nation officials have pleaded guilty to breach of trust charges in a wide-ranging treaty land entitlement fraud case.
Eldon Starchief and Alphonse Moosomin entered those guilty pleas in North Battleford provincial court Tuesday.
Both pled guilty to one charge each of breach of trust covering treaty land entitlement money that was held in trust for members of Mosquito First Nation and which was used for purposes other than what was intended.
Both individuals will return to court in October for sentencing. Two other charges the men faced, for theft and fraud over $5,000, are expected to be withdrawn at sentencing.
Three other individuals, Chief Clarence Stone, Gerald Bird and Clifford Spyglass, still face fraud and theft charges in connection to the case. They are due to return to court September 8.
