Two doctors continue to work through the process to obtain licensing in order to work for North Saskatchewan River Health Holdings, board members were told at a regular meeting April 18 at the RM of Mervin office in Turtleford.
Dr. Manitshana and Dr. Moleli are working to be certified to work in Saskatchewan.
Dr. van der Heever has resigned and returned to Â鶹´«Ã½AV Africa April 12.
Health Holdings clinics are again busy coping with the shortage of physicians this month. Dr. Shoaib and Dr Mbaogu are working hard to maintain services, according to a Health Holdings press release.
Prairie North Health Region continues to support the practice with a nurse practitioner for Edam Mondays and Tuesdays until the end of May. The region also provided a nurse practitioner for the week of April 25 to provide clinic and on call services while Dr. Shoaib was away.
Health Holdings continues to recruit physicians. The co-ordination of immigration requirements with the new College of Physicians and Surgeons assessment requirements will increase the timeline to get physicians to the communities served. The practice continues to work with a professional recruiter and is also searching for interested physicians through its own contacts.
"It is an ongoing process and we are competing with other regions and provinces at a time of physician shortages everywhere," the press release states.
The board's next meeting is Tuesday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the RM of Mervin office.
