North Battleford city council has given its final approval to the new Traffic Bylaw.
Third reading of the bylaw passed at a Feb. 28 council meeting by a unanimous vote, meaning the new fines are now in effect.
The bylaw sets out a number of new fines for traffic violations. Among the highlights are fine increases to $100 for disobeying traffic signs and barricades, for illegally parking in a disabled person's parking area, for following an emergency vehicle or City vehicle too close and for failing to yield to city vehicles.
There are also fines of $60 for various parking offences including double parking, parking in taxi stands or bus stop or loading zones and fines of $30 for exceeding parking time limits.
