North Battleford's city manager has been elected to a prestigious position with the Canadian Association of Municipal Administators.
Jim Toye was elected president of the organization at their annual general meeting May 31 in Halifax.
He will lead the organization of municipal management professionals until 2012.
"I am honoured to be able to work with my municipal counterparts from across Canada to further administrative excellence within our profession," said Toye in a statement. "I look forward to continuing CAMA's efforts aimed at ensuring healthy and thriving Canadian communities."
Toye, who has been city manager in North Battleford for the past decade, has 25 years of municipal government management experience, including senior management positions in Kindersley, Leader and Unity.
He has held various positions with the Urban Municipal Administrators' Association of Saskatchewan (UMAAS), and received the 2006 Saskatchewan Centennial Volunteer Medal, which recognized his service to UMAAS and municipal government.In 2006 Toye was appointed the Saskatchewan/Manitoba representative to the CAMA Board.
