North Saskatchewan River Municipal Health Holdings held their regular meeting May 17 at the RM of Mervin office in Turtleford.
Two physicians are presently working through the assessment process with the Collage of Physicians and Surgeon. The executive committee attended an informational meeting with Sask Docs, the provincial recruitment agency, in April. The meeting was informative and the committee is hopeful this new agency will be successful in recruiting new physicians to Saskatchewan.
The board is appraised of the upcoming summer games to be held at the Thunderchild First Nation Aug. 6 to 12. This will bring approximately 10,000 participants and chaperones to our region. Health Holdings anticipates increased demand for clinic services during the games and are working to insure there is adequate coverage for that period.
The clinics will be busy over the summer months with physician and nurse practitioner holidays and increased demand from our summer population. Patients are asked to keep that in mind when needing prescription renewals and routine appointments.
Prairie North Health Region has hired an additional nurse practitioner for Health Holdings clinics. The board welcomed Erin Culligan to the team. She will be starting sometime in early June at the Turtleford clinic and then will be providing clinic services to all the clinics in July.
The next regular meeting of the board is held Monday June 20 at 7:30 p.m.
