Steve Cormons building community

Steve Cormons is on the hunt for buskers of all kinds in his quest to improve the community.

Steve Cormons is on the hunt for buskers of all kinds in his quest to improve the community.

Cormans has been working in young offender custody for more than 20 years and has decided to launch some ideas in different areas to improve life in the Battlefords. He has seen the crime statistics and wants to see those numbers improve. He is organizing a couple events to help improve the community.

Cormans is involved with organizing a fireworks display on Canada Day. A tentative A June 3 fundraising event to tie in with the fireworks for Canada Day will benefit the CUPlex theatre project. The event features a street show and it is this event Cormons is scouring the community for entertainment talent. He invites everyone from magicians to musicians to offer up their talent.

Sept. 10 a Neighbourhood Wellness Block Party will be held. It was originally held on 107th Street, but it will be held at Central Park this year and maybe on the street between Living Faith Chapel and the United Church, if needed.

There will be hotdogs, popcorn and more. Donation of a large tent for this event is being sought.

This is all for the community and as Cormons says, "I just care about my community."
