The operator of the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford reported another year of profits, though not as much as last year.
Zane Hansen, president and CEO of the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority announced on Tuesday revenues of $254 million and a profit of $60.2 million for the 2009-10 fiscal year.
That is down from the $67 million profit recorded last year.
In a media release Hansen admitted the past fiscal year had "presented challenging market conditions as we all felt the effects of the global economic crisis. Softer market conditions did result in our net earnings coming in slightly below the record levels of the previous year. However, I am proud to say we recorded our third straight year of net earnings above $60 million dollars."
In addition to Gold Eagle Casino, SIGA operates casinos in Prince Albert, Swift Current, Yorkton, on White Bear First Nation near Carlyle and on Whitecap First Nation near Saskatoon.
All of SIGA's profits are returned and distributed to the corporation's beneficiaries in the province.
Fifty per cent are returned to First Nations communities as part of the First Nations trust fund, 25 per cent to the citizens of Saskatchewan through the provincial government and another 25 per cent to Community Development Corporations for local initiatives.
