NORTH BATTLEFORD - The City of North Battleford has approved the use of surplus funding still left over from funds granted under the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program.
At their council meeting Monday, Director of Finance Brent Nadon explained that surplus of $48,233.69 will be applied to the LED Lighting Upgrade - Competitive Pool project.
Originally, the city was granted $2,057,472 in provincial MEEP funding in 2020 to go to two projects: the Carlton Trail Roadway Project, as well as the 100th Street service roads.
There was $48,944.83 left over from those projects, and the decision was made to apply that money to the LED lighting, so that money would not go to waste.
Council voted to approve the MEEP surplus funding for the LED lighting upgrade unanimously.
