A full day of song and celebration is in store for the Battlefords in celebration of National Aboriginal Day.

The celebrations happen Tuesday in downtown North Battleford, with events beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing into the evening.

The day starts with a pancake breakfast hosted by BTC Indian Health Services. It takes place at 12th Avenue and 102nd Street and will feature balloons for the kids and elders teaching with translation.

Then at 10 a.m., a round dance will be hosted by North Battleford Youth Centre.

At 1 p.m., children and youth activities will take place in the North Battleford Library park, which will host most of the day's activities. The Battlefords Indian and Métis Friendship Centre will host these activities.

At 5 p.m., evening activities in the library park get under way as they host an Aboriginal Talent Showcase featuring several acts. Scheduled to appear are Edmund Bull, Feedback, Lance Whitecalf, Jenn Nicotine, Saint Mary's Dancers and Drum Group, Jason Chamekese and Robert Gladue, Kal McCallum, and Lance Campeu. Gord Slater will be supplying the sound for the evening.

A concession will be available and those attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
