The Blaine Lake RCMP are asking for help in finding those responsible for a fire that destroyed a century-old landmark.
The fire that reduced the Leask Hotel to ash occurred in the wee hours of the morning, Feb. 9. The Leask and surrounding fire departments attempted to douse the flames, but to no avail. The only occupant of the building at the time escaped unharmed.
Police say an explosion started the fire and caused considerable damage.
The Blaine Lake RCMP is teaming up with the RCMP Saskatoon Provincial General Investigative Section and fire specialists to crack the case, as they examine footage from several cameras in the area and have seized a number of items from the fire scene.
No evidence or leads are being confirmed at this time, in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
