Spring is arriving slowly, but as the mounds of snow that collected over the winter begin to melt away, more comes to light than dog do, cigarette butts and litter, namely needles.
North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services responded to what they term a "sharps pick up" Tuesday at about 9:45 a.m. Several needles were retrieved on a street in the city's east side.
The service is reminding citizens to avoid touching these sharps, as they are a biological hazard.
In a press release Lt. Brian Marchewka reminds anyone who comes across discarded needles to notify NBFES.
"There may be more lying around as the snow melts," Marchewka observes.
The City has designated disposal sites for users. These are located at the rear of Frontier Mall, beside the recycle bins and at the BTC parking lot across from the Kramer Building on 102nd Street.
