In four days over the course of the long weekend there was one car accident, three dumpster fires and two vehicle fires in the Battlefords and Area.
The car accident happened at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 110th Street on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. Two vehicles were involved but no one was injured. Major damage was done to both vehicles. North Battleford Fire and Emergency services had to disconnect a battery and clean up a small antifreeze leak.
The first dumpster fire was Friday on the 1800 block of 104th Street. The fire was extinguished quickly and there was little damage to the dumpster. The second was also on the 1800 block of 104th Street but occurred Saturday. There was also little damage and the fire was put out quickly. The last one was Saturday and at 1981-100th St., next to the Ultra Print building.
The first vehicle on fire incident was Saturday at 6:27 a.m. on 10418 Laurier Cres. in the alley. The fire was extinguished but the motor vehicle was destroyed. There was also a vehicle on fire the same day at 11 p.m. on Highway 40 but 3 kilometres north on Willow Heights Road. The fire was brought to control quickly but the vehicle was greatly damaged.
