Deceased snowmobilers hit open water on northern lake

WOLLASTON LAKE — The bodies of two men have been found after their snowmobile went through the ice at Larson Lake.

On Nov. 30, at approximately 1:45 p.m. Wollaston Lake RCMP received a report of two overdue snowmobilers.

Investigation determined that two adult male snowmobilers from the community left on Nov. 29, to get wood in the Larson Lake area and had not returned. Local community volunteers, Wollaston Lake RCMP and the Canadian Rangers began searching for the men.

The males, who were 35 and 36 years old, were located deceased at Larson Lake later that day. Initial investigation has determined that the snowmobile they were driving entered open water.
