Cooper confirmed for Chamber event

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce has officially decided to bring in Donald Cooper as their event speaker this fall.

Chamber directors voted to accept Cooper as the speaker at their annual fall business education and professional development event. Cooper, formerly of Cooper Sporting Goods, has been active on the speaking circuit addressing topics such as how to run and market a business.

Chamber director Paul Sayers told the board a full day program is planned. The venue is not yet finalized but the likely location is Gold Ridge Centre, with more details coming in the next few weeks. Oct. 20 has been circled as the date for the event.

This continues a fall tradition for the Chamber of bringing in outside speakers for professional development events for businesspeople both inside and outside the Battlefords.

The Chamber had brought in Barbara Glanz for a customer service event last fall and the Disney Institute for events the previous two years. The professional development events have been well attended and well received, but also cost a lot of money for the Chamber to put on.

The Chamber did, however, get some good news of additional funding to help with the costs of this fall's event. Sayers told the board the North West Enterprise Region has agreed to match Chamber expenditures for the Cooper event.

As well, the Chamber is planning a likely Sept. 27 evening event with another speaker, Eric Anderson, who hosts the radio Prosperity Saskatchewan on Rawlco Radio.
