Company fined $70,000 for workplace injury

A workplace injury in 2022 has resulted in fines to a Saskatoon company.

SASKATOON — Denovo Window & Door Inc. was charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020 after a worker fell from a scaffold in Saskatoon on Nov. 15, 2022, sustaining serious injuries.

The company was fined a total of $70,000 after pleading guilty in Saskatoon Provincial Court Oct. 2 to one violation of regulations.

The company was fined for being an employer or contractor, failing to ensure that workers use a fall protection system at a temporary or permanent work area where there is a possibility of injury if a worker falls less than three metres, resulting in serious injury of a worker

The Court imposed a fine of $50,000 with a surcharge of $20,000, for a total amount of $70,000.

Three other charges were withdrawn.
