The CIBC retirees ambassador program continues to provide additional funding to various Blaine Lake community efforts due to the diligence of local CIBC retirees.
The program was created to support the volunteer efforts of retirees actively involved in their community initiative or charitable organization in Canada.
Anne Sitter, CIBC retiree, presented Marj Pool, president of Blaine Lake Seniors' Centre, with $500 to be used towards the Blaine Lake Seniors' Centre Expansion project.
The expansion project continues to be a work in progress. The original portion of the seniors' centre did not provide enough 'main level' room for its members to enjoy all the recreational equipment, so when the opportunity arose for the seniors to purchase the lot next door, there was no hesitation.
The expansion will provide more main level space for the entire community to utilize. The seniors will be able to enjoy using the pool table, shuffleboard, carpet bowling, bingo, entertainment equipment, Wii Fit and card games on a regular basis. The facility is also used for social gatherings, family events, meetings and fundraisers.
The centre has transformed into a spacious bright facility. Interior completion is underway as electric and heating requirements are installed then the ceiling, floor and wall surfaces will be finished. There are also many smaller interior projects to be completed.
The Blaine Lake Seniors continue to host fundraising events to generate funds for their project, which local and surrounding area residents have continued to support.
