The North Battleford Communities in Bloom Committee (NBCIB) has firmed up plans for its May 28 kick-off.
Committee members will meet at City Hall at 9 a.m. for a flag-raising ceremony. North Battleford Mayor Ian Hamilton is expected to speak about CIB, explaining its purpose.
Later, they'll meet at Northern Nurseries, a CIB supporter, where Hamilton will participate in a symbolic planting ceremony.
The goal of the NBCIB is to help beautify the city and to spur pride in the city and environmental responsibility among its citizens with help from volunteers and city residents in general.
There are eight categories: tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape, turf and ground covers, floral displays and community involvement.
Communities that register for the program are assessed by judges who visit in July or August.
Members of the NBCIB are: co-chairs Nora Rongve and Charlotte Hamilton; city council representative Trent Houk; City Parks and Recreation Director Keith Anderson; Doug Collie; Jennifer Miller; Nicole Stainbrook and Brenda Korchinski.
