Plans for the July 2 - 3, 2011 Waseca 100th Year Celebration are finalized with expected attendance to be close to 400 people over the two days.
The celebration starts Saturday, July 2 at 7:30 a.m. with signing the registration book at the hall, followed by a pancake breakfast, welcome ceremonies at 10 a.m., a barbecue lunch and catered evening meal.
Displays, pictures and slideshow will be on display throughout the day at the community centre and the Christ Anglican Church, heritage site will be open for viewing. Entertainment and activities throughout the day includes face painting, bounce house, horseshoes, haystack scramble, horse and wagon rides around town and a bus tour, courtesy Garon Bus Lines to local areas of interest, Yellowhead Ramblers and an evening show of local talent and entertainment.
At 4 p.m. there will be an unveiling of a Barr Colonist commemorative cairn along the Centennial Path. The bar opens in the rink at 2:00 p.m. with music and entertainment by Deez Karaoke and DJ starting at 9 p.m. Fireworks will close the evening.
Sunday, July 3 at 9:30 a.m., a commemorative interdenominational church service will be held at the Christ Anglican Church with Pat Ribey officiating. A brief history of the church will be presented by Helena Pike.
Following the service, a continental brunch will be served at the community hall followed by cutting the 100 year birthday cake and the winner of the quilt by the Waseca Quilting Club will be announced.
Souvenirs including, Recipes Through Time, a newly published cookbook containing recipes submitted by families, past and present, will be available at the concession booth in the hall during the celebration.

So far, those travelling from the furthest distance are from Australia.

The celebration committee has planned events and activities for every age, young and old, and hopes you are able to attend. Everyone attending will be invited to sign the banner which will be placed in a time capsule and opened during the next community milestone celebration.
