Building permits took a sharp dip in North Battleford in April compared to last year.
Numbers submitted by Building Inspector Jerry Wintonyk to a May 24 council meeting show 18 permits issued for $2,828,500, down from 25 issued for a value of $14,185,500 in April 2010.
The biggest drop came in the new industrial category where one permit was issued for $10 million last April, but the category registered a "nil" this year.
New dwellings accounted for most of the building permits issued, with six issued for $1,550,000, down from eight issued for $1,999,000 last April.
One commercial alteration was issued for $577,000 in April. As well, three residential alterations, three garage/carport permits and two industrial alterations were issued permits. One sign permit was issued as were two demolition/removal permits.
For the year so far the City remains ahead of last year's pace in permit values with 30 permits issued for $34,701,500, compared to 50 issued for $26,058,500.
Mayor Ian Hamilton noted the permit figure for the year was a particular highlight, pointing out it is up for the year.
The bulk of that $34 million is made up of two permits for $31 million issued for the theatre and aquatic centre components of the Credit Union CUPlex.
For the first four months of the year new dwelling permits are down from 13 issued for $3,160,000 to nine for $2,265,000.
