NORTH BATTLEFORD - Dates have been set for the release of North Battleford’s operating and capital budget for 2023, as well as council's budget deliberation dates.
According to Director of Finance Brent Nadon, the proposed budget will be released publicly on Nov. 21. Budget deliberations will then take place in the following weeks.
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, the plan is for the first night of deliberations to include an overview of the budget as well as review of the areas of General Government, Operations and Infrastructure, Waste Management, and Water and Sewer.
The following week on Nov. 29 the deliberations will cover the areas of Fire and Protective Services and Parks and Recreation. Finally on Thursday, Dec. 1, the session will cover Planning and Development and UPAR as well as third-party grant recommendations. The plan is for the sessions to run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening and they are open to the public.
If all goes to plan, the intention is for the budget to come back for final approval at council's regular meeting on Dec. 12.
Also, in advance of the budget are presentations at City Council by delegations representing partner agencies seeking funding. On Monday, the city heard presentations from Battlefords Transit, the Dekker Centre, and North Battleford Golf and Country Club. The plan is for more delegations to appear at the Nov. 14 meeting.
