Honeywood (D A.J. Porter) Heritage Nursery Inc. near Parkside hosted its annual Apple Blossom event May 29.
The overcast sky created the ideal opportunity for photographers to capture the essence with cameras while many individuals milled around the vendors and beautiful landscape of emerging lilies and flowering trees in a bouquet of colors.
Vendors included Ron Anderson with his blown glass art exhibiting his latest creation exclusive to Honeywood Nursery. The uniquely designed apple blossom is engulfed in clear glass and shaped as a paperweight.
The Hannigan family displayed their honey products from locally produced honey in a variety of container sizes to beeswax candles.
Local artisan, Pat Grayston, exhibited a selection of art while promoting the Parkland Artisan Tour and Sale scheduled for June 11 and 12, of which Honeywood is a participant.
Gwen Sturm and Gillian Cooper travelled from North Battleford to partake in the event. Their vendor tables offered a selection of stained glass items as well as knitting, cross stitch, coasters and stepping stone products.
Art Jones was busy with his wood turning demonstration. A selection of completed projects from a walking cane and bowls to tops and wood carvings were on display.
Aaron Johnson of Medstead had a display of exquisite rustic style lamps, lampshades and night lights. Gerald Lanes, Bruce Isbister and Ray Isbister provided musical entertainment for the afternoon as guests took the opportunity to enjoy fruit crisp with ice cream and coffee either inside the original log cabin or outdoors listening to the music.
Honeywood (Dr. A.J. Porter) Heritage Nursery Inc. hosted a 50/50 and raffle draws. Leola Skrupski of Shellbrook won the 50/50 draw. Bruce Stieb of Shellbrook won the glass apple blossom paperweight and Betsy Bruner of Parkside won the glass garden ball and stand, both prizes were made by Ron Anderson.
Honeywood Nursery's next event, besides the tour, is its Lilies in Bloom event in July.
Honeywood Nursery's success is based on volunteer efforts. Many individuals volunteer their time and physical labour at the nursery to assist with yard and site cleanup; lawn, garden and building maintenance; event organizing and hosting, and much more.
