THE BATTLEFORDS — Battlefords RCMP responded to 522 calls for service from Wednesday, Aug. 17, through Tuesday, Aug. 23.

29 Assault Investigations

• Report of an assault at 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 17 near the intersection of 102nd Street and Railway Avenue. Complainant reported being punched and kicked by a male who was known to her. Victim was treated for her injuries in hospital. A 31-year-old male was arrested later the same date and charged with one count of assault.
• A 31-year-old male is facing a charge of assault after an altercation on 110th Street shortly before noon on Aug. 21. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention. The accused was arrested later the same date without incident on this as well as other outstanding warrants. He has since been released from custody and is set to appear in court next month.
• Report of an assault on Main Street in Meota at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 21. Witnesses reported a male punching a woman in the face. Upon arrival the victim was located and had not sustained any serious injuries. The accused was located and arrested about three hours later at a nearby campsite. A 25-year-old man was charged with assault, resisting arrest, breach of probation and failing to comply with an undertaking.
• Police were called to a hotel in the city at 5:20 p.m. Aug. 22 reporting an unwanted person refusing to leave a room. When police arrived, male continued to refuse to leave, was arrested and proceeded to kick the arresting officers. A 30-year-old man charged with assaulting a police officer x 2, resisting arrest, uttering threats and failing to comply with a release order.
• A woman in her thirties was taken to hospital and treated for a hand injury after she was reported to have been struck in the hand with a broom handle at a residence on the 1000-block 105th Street shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 17. A 43-year-old male has been charged with assault with a weapon.
• Police were called to an assault in progress at 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 21 near a residence south of Battleford. A woman reported being attacked by another woman, who tried to stab her with car keys, damaged a vehicle window and struck the victim in the head with a bottle. The victim did receive treatment for her injuries. A 35-year-old woman was arrested on scene on charges of assault with a weapon, assault, mischief and resisting arrest.
• On Aug. 21 at 9:15 p.m. police received a report of a male assaulting a woman on St. Laurent Drive. The victim reported the male choked her then drove away and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was located approximately an hour later and arrested. A 50-year-old man is charged with assault while choking, mischief, breach of probation, uttering threats, driving while prohibited, impaired driving and driving while over .08.
• An 18-year-old male was arrested after a report of assault and forcible confinement at a residence on the 1400-block 98th Street. The victim reported being struck by the accused who would not let her leave the residence. The victim was able to leave after a time and called police. She sustained minor injuries to her neck and extremities. Charges are forcible confinement, assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief and uttering threats.
• Call of a robbery at 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 23 on 99th Street. Male victim reported the male suspect, who is known to him, assaulted him and stole his vehicle keys. Suspect has not yet been located. Investigation is ongoing.
• Reported robbery of a vehicle at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 20. Suspects were being given a ride by the victim north of the city. There was an altercation and the victim was assaulted, one of the suspects produced a firearm and they forced him out of the vehicle and fled. The victim sustained minor injuries. The vehicle has since been recovered. A 20-year-old woman who is known to the victim, has been arrested and charged with one count of robbery with a firearm. The investigation is ongoing, police are looking for two male suspects, believed to be in their late teens or twenties.
12 Break and Enter Investigations
• Shortly before 4 a.m. on Aug. 18, suspect(s) broke into a business on River Valley Drive in North Battleford. Front door damaged with a rock. The suspect is believed to have fled out the back door. Nothing appears to have been stolen.
• Suspect reported to have been interrupted during a break-in to a garage on the 1500-block 102nd Street in North Battleford at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 19. Male suspect was wearing grey shirt and grey pants and fled when confronted. Nothing appears to have been taken.
• Break and enter to a garage reported on Aug. 17. Incident occurred possibly multiple times in the days proceeding on the 800-block 106th Street.
• Break-in to a residence reported at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 18 on the 1500-block 107th Street. A 38-year-old man was arrested near the scene by members shortly after the complaint and charged with break and enter.
• A Red 2006 Ford Fusion with Saskatchewan Licence 093JRZ stolen from a garage break and enter on the 900-block 109th Street sometime in the early morning hours of Aug. 19.
• Residence on the 1300-block 109th Street reported broken into some time in the week prior to Aug. 22. Lawnmower, jerry can and a computer among items reported stolen.
• Break in reported on the 600-block 103rd Street in North Battleford shortly after 1 p.m. on Aug. 23. In course of the investigation, police located stolen property at a residence on the 600-block 102nd Street and also recovered a sawed-off shotgun. A 21-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were arrested and taken into custody. Both are facing charges with include possession of stolen property and weapons offences. The matter is still under investigation.
Five Vehicle Thefts
• Police recovered a vehicle shortly before 8 p.m. on Aug. 19 on the 1300-block 103rd Street which had been reported stolen earlier in the day. The 17-year-old driver attempted to flee from members on foot when stopped but was quickly taken into custody. He is charged with possession of stolen property x 2 and resisting arrest.
• Blue 1995 Pontiac Sunfire with Saskatchewan licence 690MLT reported stolen from Scott Drive in North Battleford on the late afternoon of Aug. 22.
• Grey 2004 Ford F250 with Saskatchewan licence VWV880 reported stolen from the 2200-block 100th Street in North Battleford sometime between Aug. 3and the date of report.

Call of a vehicle rollover on Highway 16 west of Battleford at 5 a.m. on Aug. 20. The vehicle was located having been driven some distance with three flat tires. A 28-year-old male was arrested and became upset with police and attempted to resist arrest. He has since been released from custody to appear at a future date on charges of impaired driving and resisting arrest.

• A male with outstanding warrants for breach of probation was found driving on 23rd Street in Battleford with an open beer in his hand. Upon stopping the vehicle, police also located a large machete and ammunition. A 22-year-old Saskatoon man was arrested and facing additional charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with an undertaking.
• Report of several people in the area of 13th Avenue and 101st Street with weapons at 9 a.m. on the Aug. 22. Three suspects were located, one male found in possession of a homemade machete who also provided a false name. A 22 year old appeared in court on Aug. 23 charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstruction, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and breach of probation.
