Woman accused of fatal hit and run makes first court appearance

Chasity Erin Kyplain has a bail hearing scheduled Thursday in Saskatoon Provincial Court

SASKATOON – A 28-year-old woman who turned herself into Edmonton Police for a fatal hit and run in Saskatoon last year made her first appearance in court Tuesday.

Chasity Erin Kyplain remains in custody and has a show cause hearing scheduled Thursday in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Kyplain is charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision, in the 3200 block of 33 Street East on May 10, 2021, which resulted in the death of a 33-year-old woman.

The charges against her haven’t been tested in court.

Police had searched for her since 2021 and she turned herself into Edmonton Police.
