Bearspray suspect in court

A man accused in a bear spray incident at a 100th Street gas station was in court Wednesday. Justin Fineday, 23, appeared before Judge Violet Meekma in provincial court in North Battleford.

A man accused in a bear spray incident at a 100th Street gas station was in court Wednesday.

Justin Fineday, 23, appeared before Judge Violet Meekma in provincial court in North Battleford. He was remanded in custody until another scheduled appearance Thursday.

Fineday faces three counts of assault with a weapon and one count of carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The Crown is opposing Fineday's release.

The bear spray incident took place in North Battleford May 30. Battlefords RCMP were called to a disturbance at the 100th Street gas station around 5:30 p.m. An altercation between two men and a woman was reported. During the confrontation a can of bear spray was deployed, with one the gas station employees, as well as those involved in the fight, sprayed.
