The city of North Battleford has adopted the 2011 mill rate bylaws, complete with its approximately 8.5 percent property tax increase.
Third reading took place on both bylaws, with the bylaw to establish mill rate factors and the authorization of the levying of the tax rate and establishing a minimum tax and base taxes for 2011 both passing at Monday night's city council meeting.
As expected, neither bylaw received unanimous approval as councillors Trent Houk and Grace Lang both voted against. The rest of council, however, was in favor. Both bylaws passed by a 5-2 margin.
The mill rate bylaw includes the increased base tax for recreation capital facilities projects with the new rate established at $175 per household.
