BEAUVAL – Three people charged in connection to a violent incident in Beauval made their first appearance in court Monday.
Police allege that 24-year-old Braydon Durocher, 25-year-old Vincent Roy and 19-year-old Jelena Lafleur-Laliberte, along with two young offenders, approached vehicles parked outside a home and shot into the window of one vehicle. The windows of other parked vehicles were smashed and they were damaged by fire. One person was inside one of the vehicles at the time but wasn’t injured.
The occupants of the home approached the accused but were sprayed with bear mace, say police.
Police charged Durocher, Lafleur-Laliberte and Roy all of Beauval, and two male teens - who can't be identified in accordance with Youth Criminal Justice Act - with two counts of assault with a weapon, arson with disregard for human life, arson that caused damage to property, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a weapon for committing an offence, uttering threats, and two counts of mischief.
Lafleur-Laliberte was released May 2 and both Durocher and Roy have show cause hearings May 18 in Beauval. One male teen will appear in court in Beauval on May 18. The other teen is still wanted.
