Hockeyville voting is over with Ituna earning the top 2 bid. The community and surrounding area did rally behind Wilkie, however. Now we can continue to cheer on the Outlaws once again in finals for the SWHL title and the provincial senior men鈥檚 A championship.
Organizing one of the longest running music festivals in Saskatchewan, now in its 91st year, the Unity Music Festival Association cannot operate without the generous time given by volunteers. UCHS boys鈥 and girls鈥 basketball teams captured their respective conference spots to advance them to regional playdowns. UCHS students attended and some took part in We Day in Saskatoon on March 15. Archery will compete at provincials the last weekend of March. Badminton season has begun and track practices have also begun. The drama production will be performed for the public March 27 and at the Regional Drama Festival April 7 and 8 weekend. UCHS is now accepting nominations for their Hall of Honour composed of alumni students who have succeeded in academics, arts, athletics, citizenship, industry and humanities. Congratulations to the Unity peewee Lazers for being the last team standing this season! Although results were not known at press time, they were playing for a league championship this weekend. As hockey is now complete for another season, take the time to thank a coach, manager, co-ordinator or official for helping to contribute to your child鈥檚 hockey season.
The exciting news for the curling club is long time UCC member Daryl Eddingfield qualifing as a member of Team Saskatchewan to compete at the upcoming Canadian National Master鈥檚 Men鈥檚 Curling championship in Guelph, Ont. April 3 to 9. Also, on one of the last nights of league curling a rare 鈥渆ight ender鈥 was scored. Congratulations to team Kent Boerrichter.
Coaches and players are anxious to begin ball season now rink season is over. Many players have been participating in winter training programs and are now ready to hit the diamonds.
Soon the weekly Sunday brunches at the museum will be concluded, so support this small, hardworking, dedicated group who tirelessly donate their time to the museum.
Coffee row folks are loving the sunshine and warm weather, especially the appearance of the sun just a little longer each day.
