The Feb. 3 meeting of the Rivers鈥 Edge Quilt Guild was well attended with 20 members present.
Many exciting projects are planned for the next few months.
Feb. 9, we will be sewing a striped quilt, with one of our members facilitating this project.
With 1.1 metres of striped fabric, we will be transforming the stripes into squares for an interesting quilt top.
Feb. 23-25, we will enjoy our annual quilting marathon. Beginning Feb. 23, Irene Greer will assist us in sewing a mystery table runner. An added feature on this day will be a fabric strip-poker game. Anyone wishing to participate may bring four 2.5 inch strips of brown fabric for Thursday and bring four 2.5 inch strips of floral fabric for Friday.
We will be having a class in March, Hunters Star, and a class in April, Two Color Bargello with a Twist. There will be guest instructors teaching these classes.
Our comfort quilt facilitator proposed a challenge to club members. It is Canada's 150th anniversary this year. In commemoration of this, she challenged us to sew 150 quilt tops and/or quilts for our community comfort quilt project. A few quilts were given at the meeting, so we are '鈥漵ew鈥 on the way.
Ann Fylyma will be moving to Saskatoon. Everyone wished her happiness and good health in her new home. She thanked us and assured us she is taking her sewing machine and a table.
We had many interesting show and tell items. One member showed a quilt she had started three years ago, Good Morning Sunshine, which she had completed. Another member showed a quilt she had started many years ago and had finished it. Could these have been New Year鈥檚 resolutions? Many other recently completed projects were displayed. It is always inspirational to see.
Quote of the month: 鈥淥ne who sleeps under a quilt is comforted with love.鈥
