Hillcrest Seniors Centre holds annual meeting

Battleford Hillcrest Seniors held their annual meeting April 12.

Battleford Hillcrest Seniors held their annual meeting April 12. The nomination committee's report for the executive was accepted as follows: president - Roy Tornberg; vice president - Jenny Huculak; 2nd vice - Don Mitchell; secretary -Irene Degenstien. All the various committee heads agreed to stay on. We were disappointed that our new District 3 director, Maurille Corbeil, of Edam, was unable to attend as planned.

The Hall has recently had some improvements. New low-flush toilets have been installed. The piano was recently tuned and a new sound system installed.

The annual garage sale is planned for Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nine members have signed up for the next computer class with volunteer instructor Lloyd Edmunds. The knitters are gathering items for their fall sale at the Mall. During the winter months, 325 pairs of mitts were distributed to various schools.

The monthly noon "meal deal" of soup, sandwich, muffin and coffee for $5 is proving popular. The next one will be held May 20.

We were saddened to lose long-time member Eva Heilman, who passed away suddenly March 3.

We welcome new members; anyone aged 50 and older is eligible.
