I would like to thank Scott Watson for sending information about what is happening at GrainsConnect Canada terminal being built near Maymont.I have asked him if he would keep us updated with the events.

With the arrival of spring, progress onsite at the terminal is full steam ahead. We'll be seeing some dramatic changes in the Maymont skyline soon with the expected pouring of the six-pack of concrete silos starting later next month, if the weather co-operates. This will complete the facility’s capacity of 35,000 tonnes.

The 24-hour-per-day pour is expected to last more than five days. Construction of the 134-car rail loop will start with the arrival of the warmer weather as well. GrainsConnect expects to keep to the original plan of receiving grain this fall.

There are currently more than 40 workers onsite and that is expected to increase to well over 50 for the pour and spring construction.

Thanks to Pat Beaudoin and Jean Sherman for organizing the pot luck supper and bingo that was held at the Maymont seniors’ hall on St. Patrick’s Day.

Mark on your calendar for a roast beef supper fundraiser April 2 at Maymont Memorial Hall. Adult tickets are $15. Admission for children seven to 12 is $7 and free for children six and under.
