Contract bridge winner Dec.12 at the Do Drop In was Eric Callbeck. Second was Gerry Craig.

A timely reminder to all homeowners to check roof vents for frost buildup. If they are frozen over with ice and closed off, sewer gas will back up into your house at the sinks. Watch for an unpleasant odour and go check them.

Another thing or two to check is with your vehicle. If travelling be sure you have your taillights cleaned off and that you have two headlights working. As we drove from Wetaskiwin to Leduc, Alta. on Saturday, we met six vehicles with one headlight. This is dangerous if the weather is foggy or there is drifting snow.

News of the store in Edam burning is sad, as they were getting set up and doing better recently.

It was great watching TV on Saturday as the same horses that jumped at Spruce Meadows this summer took part in competitions in Geneva, Switzerland. The two Canadians didn't do too well, but there were some wonderful rides made.

The Meota December hall luncheon was very good, with a tasty meal enjoyed by all who attended. There were not as many people as other times when the weather was more favourable, but it was a good turnout. The committee offered a free Christmas meal, but there were some who insisted on donating. This is appreciated, too.

The Sandwith Church was filled with the sound of Christmas as folks gathered for their annual carol festival. Rev. Doug Codling and his wife Helen came up from Arlington Beach near Regina to conduct the service. There were about 100 people who showed up, coming from near and far.

On our drive from North Battleford to Leduc, Alta. on Dec. 19 we drove through every kind of weather — reduced visibility, whirling snow and sunny skies. Dec. 16, family members gathered at the home of my son Bradley and his wif Kelly east of Carstairs for a fabulous Christmas dinner. I travelled with Donna and Al Lambert, who went on to visit their daughter Carrie and Neil Sandstrom in Calgary.

I want to wish all our readers the best Christmas season ever and a great new year in 2017. Thanks for your co-operation through the year in getting pictures and reports to me, so they can be shared with everyone. Do remind your club secretaries to send reports in after meetings as everyone can't attend them all and if things of community interest take place, it is nice to share the information.
